Influence of the Rotor-Driven Perturbation on the Stator-Exit Flow within a High-Pressure Gas Turbine Stage

In stator–rotor interaction studies on axial turbines, the attention is commonly focused unsteady rotor aerodynamics resulting from periodic perturbations induced by stator flow structures. Conversely, less interest has been historically attracted regarding influence of released stator, correlated to propagation blade potential field upstream leading edge. this paper, experiments in research high-pressure turbine Laboratory Fluid-Machines Politecnico di Milano, performed applying a fast-response aerodynamic pressure probe, alongside fully-3D time-accurate CFD simulations flow, are combined with aim discussing rotor-to-stator interaction. While rotating, induces and velocity gap, altering evolution total quantities rate discharged each channel eventually triggering energy-separation effects which result temperature oscillations stator-exit flow. Such were found rise up almost ±10% stage drop.
